Diego Forlan, top scorer in the Uruguayan team, stated that South Africa, France and Mexico, rivals of the sky in the first phase of the 2010 World Cup, will be “all difficult” but noted that “the World Cup is to be enjoyed” .
“I could not see the draw because he was traveling with the squad of Atletico, but we played opponents is all difficult,” he said from Spain told the newspaper ‘Latest News’ in Montevideo.
“Everyone knows the potential of France, Mexico plays well and has good players,” he added. “We have a nice challenge ahead and the idea is to enjoy going to the World Cup,” he said.
The striker is considered the best footballers of Uruguay and, with 8 goals, was the leading scorer in South American qualifying blue of the World Cup.
Lugano: “Complicated but possible”
Diego Lugano, captain of Uruguay, said the group A World Cup where his team was paired with South Africa, Mexico and France, “is as complicated as possible.”
“I’m sure surrender in well in the World Series and will be a partner,” said Turkey’s Fenerbahce defender told local media.
According Lugano: “France is a great team, Mexico has a game similar to Uruguay, and South Africa as the host, will be a tough opponent.” However, “I believe that none of these teams is more than Uruguay and for us the group will be as complicated as possible,” he said.
The first two series will advance to the knockout stages. The sky will face the French on 11 June in Cape Town; on June 16 will be measured with South Africa in Pretoria and on 22 June with Mexico in Rustenburg.
The Uruguayan was the last of the 32 who will participate in the World Cup to win his ticket after being fifth in South American qualifying and beat Costa Rica in South America-CONCACAF play-off.
